SUMMARY:Achieve Literacy Saint John
DESCRIPTION:As one of the proud event sponsors\, the Saint John Board of Trade is pleased to invite you to participate in an important dialogue\, Achieve Literacy Saint John on Tuesday\, April 8 at the Delta Brunswick Saint John.\n\n\n\nThe event is co-chaired by Roxanne Fairweather and Jamie Irving. Guest speaker is Craig Alexander\, Senior Vice President and Chief Economist for TD.\n\n\n\nKindergarten readiness and reading by Grade 3 are well-established benchmarks for both school and life success. Yet\, too many children in Saint John are falling behind at their most critical time of development. When a child is not able to read by Grade 3\, their path to education achievement becomes much more difficult. The low reading-proficiency scores of children are deeply concerning for our community's long-term prosperity and it's a problem that cannot be solved by parents and educators\, alone. We need to do whatever it takes to close the education achievement gap and get every child on track with these milestones.\n\n\n\nKnowing that education is the primary route to economic well-being for families\, businesses and community\, Saint John organizations have been contributing their time\, talents and resources to help every child succeed. We ARE making progress but we must do better by putting the right fundamentals in place for early learning success. \n\n \n\nThe April 8th event is a call to action. We need your help because education achievement IS the foundation for a strong future a skilled and ready workforce\, a thriving community and province.
