About Us

Kaléidoscope Social Impact is an organization that was first started in 1999, as the Saint John Community Loan Fund. We started with small loans to help individuals become self reliant. Today we operate three distinct services: social finance; real estate development; and training. In financing, we we have adjusted our focus from the individual to non-profit developers building affordable housing and to organizations creating social enterprises. Our training focuses on financial literacy and enterprise development. Both our training and our financing is delivered throughout New Brunswick, with opportunities to scale across Atlantic Canada. Our real estate development is still focused in Saint John. It includes five buildings that provide affordable housing, and one innovative commercial office space for enterprising non profits at the Social Enterprise Hub. We are currently constructing two buildings, that will provide a combined 51 units of affordable housing, and purpose built office space for two non-profit organizations. We have worked with more than 9661 individuals to help them build skills, disbursed more than 340 loans, and developed community assets worth over $12 million. This has resulted in more than 424 businesses being launched, over 445 individuals gaining employment, 445 moving into better housing, 156 returning to school, and 1261 people building savings for self-reliance.
